ABSTRACT: This research explores the role of early childhood education in reducing food waste among young children. Educating children about food waste early can lead to significant environmental and economic benefits. Objectives included evaluating children's understanding of food waste, identifying effective educational practices, and assessing the long-term impacts of early food waste education. A survey design was chosen for its effectiveness in gathering broad data. Purposive sampling was employed to select 180 children from preschools in Kwara State, Nigeria. Findings revealed that children exposed to food waste education demonstrated better understanding and practice of reducing food waste. Effective practices included interactive lessons, hands-on projects, and community initiatives focused on food waste reduction. The study recommended integrating food waste education into early childhood curricula to foster responsible food consumption behaviors from an early age.
